MYSTERY
Good Girls Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson 5/5
I love the layout of this book, how it looks like pages of a notebook or transcripts - it made it so easy to read. Such a unique mystery. The author did a great job of putting in multiple red herrings, never letting the reader guess who was the murderer.
Recommend? Yes!
Good Girls, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson 4/5
A good mystery, wasn't able to guess the ending which is always a plus. MC is young and I often got frustrated with her. I understand why there was a sequel but I don't think it was as necessary. It was a good story though and the author did a great job of portraying the pressure the MC was feeling to solve the mystery. Not sure if I want to read the third one.
Recommend? If you read the first, always good to keep going with the series but it isn't necessary. Still a good read if you are looking for an easy read with a decent mystery
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart 4/5
It was a slow start, a bit confusing but worth it in the end. I love the reflection of mental states and the impact of chronic medical conditions. This was one that was easy to tell the ending for me but I still loved how the author got the reader to the ending. Make sure to take some time for yourself after reading this book, it hurt my heart. There is a prequel book but I don't think I will be reading it.
Recommend? Yes, just know it takes a bit to get into!
You'll be the Death of Me by Karen M. McManus 4/5
I love a good reconciliation book. This is another easy read that is from multiple points of view. While the story was good, I couldn't figure out the ending - it wasn't my favorite. I gave it a 4 because there was nothing really wrong with it. It just wasn't memorable or outstanding!
Recommend? Yes, I still recommend if you are looking for an easy, YA mystery!
Pretty Little Liars Series by Sara Shepard 4/5
I decided to keep this one out of the fandom page due to there not being a large fandom around it but still may move it over. This series may even qualify for middle readers but it does deal with some heavy topics. All of the books are quick reads, I read most of them each in one sitting. There are actually multiple mysteries wrapped up in the series. While I didn't finish reading all of them (there are 12) I do love that Sara wrote a series that keeps going and you can generally stop at any section.
Recommend? Yes ish, it is a good series but young. There are also so many books so if you are looking for super easy read that has a lot of books, try this one out. Also, don't expect it to be like the show after book 4!
FANTASY
The Nine Lives of Chloe King by Celia Thomson 4/5
Books 1-3 but was binded as one book. I was expecting this to be more like the show but it was nowhere near it. It was a good easy read that I sped through.
