A LOOK INSIDE: Fate The Winx Saga - Season 1
One of the things I love most about about this show after growing up on the original Winx show is how the show matured with the viewers who grew up on it. It is dark, has mature concepts and is modern. Below are my thoughts throughout each episode during my rewatch to get ready for season 2. A more formalized review will come later!
Episode 1
Mention of Tink as an air fairy, transformation magic - good foreshadowing.
Wish there was an explanation of Otherworld and realms
Alps - why don't parents know. I love how the fairies still know of american pop culture
If they are all first years, how do they all know each other. Oh, only Terra knows Stella since she grew up around Alfea
Love that we have Terra as Flora's cousin. Great throwback to the OG series but still making it new
Musa! Different powers - interesting
First day and already training? Wow, intense
Awww sky and riven - so not everyone in realms are fairies. Can fairies be speacialists?
Burned ones - the big bad. Funny how bloom is a fire fairy and the big bad are burned ones. Connection?
That is why they have the barrier? Thought it was to protect from humans. Still magic behind the barrier?
Rosalind - another mystery.
Oh poor terra.
Stella and sky - complicated ew. I love how they made stella into an influencer type person with a backstory that seems suspicious
Water fairy roomates with fire fairy - how ironic
not a fan of this parenting - just cause she is different doesn't mean bad or wrong
Changeling - wow so many plot points in the first 30 minutes. great job of setting it up
So ms dowling was lying to her - good cinematic transition. Also means she knows more than she lets on. Already seems very sketchy
I hate Riven. What an ass. I want to know what happened that turned him from a nerd to someone who depends on substances. We haven't seen him sober yet.
First world = earth with no magic
16 and in college? Her parents make it seems like a school for mental health
Bloom's first big fight scene she runs away, I am sure we will get a fight scene in the last episode where this changes
Aww Musa, terra is being a bit clingy but I understand
Beatrix reminds me of the 3 bad witches from og winx, great easter egg
Episode 2:
Starts off with a mention of so many places and of a war. My one bit of problem with fantasy. I wish there was more of a set up but am also glad we got right into the story since there is only 6 episodes.
My heart reaches out for terra. I can't wait for her to find more of her confidence outside of the greenhouse.
Stel drives me nuts too. Classic mean girl who just wants to seem like she has her shit together but is really falling apart. Needs to feel like she is on top
So fairies are are elemental based but different parts of the element. interesting. The empaths are air?
Bloom clearly has depression and most likely PTSD - connecting to emotions when you feel like you have none
Great hints and being sexually fluid
Bloom and sky - slow burn
After her problem last year, why would stel tell bloom to use her negative emotions? Why is she obsessed with setting bloom up for failure?
Dane wanting to fit in is gonna ruin him.
While bea is sketchy, I am glad she calls riv out on his bullshit
I like sam
does no one see the five of them leaving the school?
Of course bloom didn't go with and hears mystical voices but glad we get confirmation that bloom is connected to the burned ones
Sam is terras brother - no earthy name?
What is with bea - bet she was the one who let it loose
Who is "He" and how many spies are in the school
oh interesting with blooms eyes
Episode 3
Visions now?
First look at Rosalind, interesting how everything comes back to her
I want to know how the specialists training is set up, seems so chaotic
So Riven does have a heart
Poor Terra - love seeing true realities of teenagers, relationships and insecurities.
Bloom is making everything about her, annoying
Love getting the teachers view
I like how sky and bloom so much more comfortable around each other
What is going on with Aisha - this was never explained?
Interesting trio - Bea, dane and riv do not make for a good combo
Bea is connected Ros. Wow Bea is wicked
It is clear that Farrah knows more about this situation and should guess that it will only lead bloom down a path of darkness and sadness. I can't imagine needing so many answers knowing that no one will give them to you
How did Farrah know they were there
geez, beax straight murdered him.
Stel keeps pressuring sky to be with her and manipulating him, I hate it. It is clear he would be happier with bloom and stel needs time by herself
Aisha seems so over bloom but I don't really blame her
Rosalind being alive is such a good addition to the plot
Episode 4:
Love how the three teachers are wrapped up in the mystery
As stupid and horrid as they are - i do like beax and riv together but why do they need to bring dane down
bloom has more colorful clothes - interesting to see their wardrobes progress throughout the season
Stel could at least try to let the others in. not sure how i feel about the tortured princess act. so many of the suite mates have issues with their parents - they would understand.
I love how terras brother and dad want to protect her. I can't wait to see florra added to the mix. Terra seems more confident now and I am living for it.
Riv just wants to be a part of everything - I wonder what his backstory is and if he had always been left out
I love the little bits of knee touching from sam and musa - very high school I love it
I like how sky understands what bloom feels, seeing this relationship develop
Yas on pro consent
Beax is manipulative but pro consent - she confused me so much
I wish we saw more of riven and sky friendship, not just them fighting. Seems like riven was a good enough person for sky to befriend
i feel bad that sky is stuck in the middle of everything
I am impressed with the CGI used
Now we know more about why stel seems so self centered
Her mom clearly cares more about what people think and controlling the situation.
When they are questioning why they are lying - they are adults running a school. They aren't required to tell students, lose the entitlement.
why did terra tell sky everything. but interesting how they put together that beax killed callum
glad the winx finally confronted the teachers - another "not hiding things will help us defeat the big bad" trope
Another barrier - i like that we got beax backstory. still curious where rosalind stashed beaux. how does beax think that bloom is also from aster dell
This feels like harsh punishment - especially for a kid
Sky was spying on bloom - interesting. bloom will hate that. That is horrible, manipulating a student like that. Even if you have raised them as a son
Nothing good comes from secrets - how have they not gotten that yet
Episode 5:
I know they are training the kids to be soldiers but having other students guard beax is torture
Is beux a villian or just want revenge. there is still the He that sent her here
Other fire fairies? They made it seem like bloom was special for wielding fire. Now fairies are training for combat? Is the purpose of alfea to be a soldier?
It is very unclear when sky's dad died or how old sky is
the military situation is very confusing. Alfea has soldiers but is apart of Solaria which also has a military.
Luna seems to be controlling everything again
beax placing a seed of distrust in bloom, making it seem like rosalind is the only one she can trust. Like i know dowling hasn't been forthcoming but not even giving her a chance?
dane saying beax is the only one who made him feel like being different is good - what the fuck about terra?
I like musa and riven - they would make excellent friends
i am so glad bloom is finally starting to open up.
I am happy stel is opening up as well
dane saying that terra cut him off when he did one shitty thing, like you bashed her and she decided not to put more effort into someone who thought of her that way. come on
great foreshadowing that skys dad is alive
Finally the soom kiss!
i hate that bloom betrays sky here when he just wants to help
great progression of the burned ones - surprised we don't know more about why the exist
i don't see why bloom can't trust her friends. she has so much ptsd and depression.
stella does have a point.
i am glad we are getting farrah finally telling the story of that day
combine magic? I wonder if it will be like transformation magic, something we hear more about late
she gave farah a chance and still is doubtful. i understand wanting to know but there is so much happening outside of her. Like their world is under threat - why can't she see that. the world doesn't revolve around her
interesting how aisha betrayed her friends
the winx really love breaking the rules
episode 6:
they said they wouldn't leave bloom and then proceeded to leave her
bloom knew ros is bad but still released her. how desperate is she?
terra finally grew a pair, i love seeing her stand up for herself
aisha does have a point about bloom being selfish when there are burned ones so close. split attention does no one good
great twist finding out the burned ones are after bloom but that explains why she feels connected to them
so many things falling into place for things to go wrong - it kind of feels too perfect, too put coordinated
bloom can trust ros after seconds after meeting her but not farah?
i like this growth in stella, her realizing that she needs to be alone
I like how the fairies are breaking into factions
There seems to be an emphasis on dorris?
i am a sucker for a good, we all work past our differences and come together to beat the big bad
andreas reminds me of riven and saul sky. there is a great parallel
terra and musa are such a great pair of friends - musa is beyond strong
decent arc of bloom trying to protect everyone else. i am glad bloom realizes that ros isn't the answer. nice contrast from first episode
is this the og music when they transform?
I love this version of transformation, this version of wings. It seems like much more apart of them, more realistic
the burned ones are actually people? how are they created then
you can feel the shift that something has just begun, not ended
why does sky decide that now is when he is going to lie to bloom? after he just went after her about not being honest with him
bloom asking to hug farah is one of the funniest things
the scenes with bloom going home and her parents reactions to her friends is pure, one of my favorite things. It is also so devastating that her parents have to learn that they lost their daughter but also gained one. One that unintentionally hurt mom. I wish it wasn't a montage and we had gotten to hear some of that conversation and their reactions. I love seeing the girls so close before things got so fucked.
skys dad being alive but never contacting him is beyond dark. especially him being a dad to beax. and andreas being the "he".
I hate how rosalind and luna are controlling everything.
The dragon flame! From the og series!
the future of alfea scares me.
i hope that farah isn't actually dead and her death was a trick. but i don't think that ros would be that tricked.
