Mystery
The Guest List by Lucy Foley 4/5
There was a lot of building and backstory in this book. It took over half the book to find out who even died and then you find out who killed them soon after. I do appreciate that who died was a big part of the mystery, and the twist was absolutely perfect. As someone who is pretty good at figuring out the ending, I wasn't expecting that.
The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks 4/5
I love a good dual point of view plus a little romance in a mystery? I am sold. To not include spoilers, this twist was everything. This books demonstrates how someone can change from person to person, the ways your past can come back to haunt you and how many little moments can lead to drastic change.
Verity by Colleen Hoover 5/5
WHAT?!
Then She Was Gone 3.5/5
It was alright. I thought there would be a bit more of a mystery but it was definitely creepy and disturbing. It seemed more towards psychological thriller than mystery which I wasn't expecting! It also moved a bit slower for me than I would have liked. But it was very well written, and I loved how e got to see things from all different points of view. That's really what kept me hooked!
The Maidens by Alex Michaelides 4/5
Fantastic twist! Style of writing takes a bit to get used to, so I am glad that I read Silent Patient first. I loved the mini crossover between books. This author has a bit of slow burn mysteries that take a bit to work up to, but I was expecting it. I love the integration of Greek Mythology. I highly recommend any of his books
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides 5/5
That twist!! Wow, while it the writing took some getting used to - it was worth it. The intricate details made this story beyond amazing. I love how this author takes a story from Greek Mythology and incorporates it fully into the novel. Michaelides does write slow burn mysteries so if you need it to move fast, this is not your book. But I do think that this is absolutely worth it!
The Book of Cold Cases by Simone St. James 4/5
Slow burn mystery. Not as much of a climax, big reveal or twist that I was expecting. Interesting inclusion of paranormal. It was a good read, the mystery was good. It wasn't the best book I have ever read but still good.
