TVD Season 1 Episode 13

Synopsis:

Stefan and Damon recall the incidents that led to the rift in their relationship. They find that they are not the only ones interested in Elena's ancestor's journal, and go looking for the entrance to the tomb. Meanwhile, Bonnie's date with Ben takes a terrifying turn.

Thoughts:

More flashbacks!! I love these. Seeing why damon is so obsessed with the laying in the middle of the road trick - it all comes down to Katherine for him doesn’t it

Juniors in high school, “i could get used to this” waking up next to Elena. Dude!

“If i see something i haven’t before I will throw a dollar at it” - stefan 100% knew that he meant since Katherine looked so similar to Elena. Ew

We meet Pearl! And get more insight to what happened in 1864, the fact that the vamps traveled together and knew what vervain was

And now it is finally revealed that Anna is from the 1864 vamps!

Elena is starting to see the good in Damon, starting to fall for him I think. I think this was the start of it, despite what she thinks

The way the writers planned these episodes never ceases to surprise me, constantly in awe of them

And now Stefan knows Alaric hunts vampires

I hate seeing the Human Stefan and Damon, who they were before, how much lighter and happier they seem

Why is Damon making dinner for Jenna? And flirting with her

Honestly? I was surprised Alaric just gave up the info about Damon killing his wife so easily but I am glad that someone else knows and his story moves along.

The way Damon goes to Elena for honesty, he looked so raw in that moment

Stefan used to be so trusting, seeing the good in everyone. I miss that

I am glad everyone thinks its weird that Damon just showed up for dinner

Damon is not making things subtle

Damons face when he realizes who Anna is, is EVERYTHING!

Finding out later how abusive their father was, it makes me so sad seeing how much trust Stefan put in him. Even before we see the promise of a miserable life, it starts to make sense why Damon blames Stefan and is so angry with him

I wish Bonnie had been left out of this.

Stefan looks so conflicted seeing his dead dad

Damon looks genuinely hurt by Stefan and Elena getting the grimoire

I can’t believe he threatened to turn Elena. Those subtle kisses on her head, ahhh what good performances from all of them!

I am happy that the writers decided to give us the story of how Stefan and Damon became vampires so early in the series. (Even though we don’t see it quite yet) It makes their behavior and relationship make so much more sense. Seeing how close they were as humans, what drove them apart and why Damon is so insistent on getting Katherine back. My heart will forever go out to them that their own dad killed them.

I do agree with Elena that Stefan didn’t do anything wrong. He never told his dad about Katherine, just didn’t hide it well

How did Stefan figure out who Anna was without seeing her? That never made sense to me

I love learning that Emily did the spell on the tomb for Pearl and Anna, not Katherine

How many freaking times does Elena get kidnapped? Another thing to start tracking

Timeline:

1864 - Jonathan Gilbert was the brains of killing the vampires

  • Stefan and Damon’s dad fed stefan vervain to expose Katherine after Stefan had reservations about killing vamps

Do we see them in school?

Nope
